Terry Morgan CBE CMgr CCMI, President
Terry Morgan CBE CMgr CCMI became President of the Institute in October 2010 for a period of two years.
Terry holds an MSc in Engineering Production and Management from Birmingham University. He is a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering and of the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
He was appointed Chairman of Crossrail Ltd (CRL) in June 2009. CRL is a company established in 2001 to develop and deliver a new metro railway going through the middle of London. CRL will add 10% additional capacity to the railway carrying capacity of London, is Europe's largest construction project and, when completed in 2017, will be the biggest addition to the transport network in London and the South East for 50 years. In total it is budgeted to spend £15.9bn over the life of the project.
In his role as Chairman, Terry leads the Board and also the communications with Shareholders and the very varied Stakeholders that come with a project of this scale and complexity.
Terry was previously CEO of Tube Lines, a role to which he was appointed in early 2002. Prior to that he was Group HR Director and then Group Managing Director – Operations, at BAE Systems.
Non-executive appointments include MITIE PLC, including Chairman of the Remuneration Committee, and MJ Gleeson PLC, including Chairman of the Remuneration Committee.
External roles include:
- Chairman, National Skills Academy for Railway Engineering.
- Chairman, Manufacturing Technology Centre.
- Board member, Gateway to London.
- Board member, CBI London.
Terry is a previous Board member of Investors in People, and Past Governor of Solihull College of Technology. He was awarded a CBE in 2009.
Peter Ayliffe CCMI, President and Chief Executive Officer, Visa Europe
Peter Ayliffe was appointed by the Board as President Elect of the Institute in September 2010. He will assume the Presidency in October 2013.
Peter has been President and Chief Executive Officer of Visa Europe since March 2006. He is responsible for Visa's European business in 36 countries, accounting for over a third of the worldwide expenditure on Visa's cards. Peter has also overseen the creation of a European owned and controlled Visa business, the launch of new innovations in payments, such as contactless, mobile and the commercial launch of V PAY, the new European debit card.
Prior to Visa Europe, Peter spent over 30 years in retail banking. He was a main Board Director at Lloyds TSB. During this time he was a Director on the Visa Europe Board and a Director on the Visa International Board. He has been on the Board of Investors in People (UK). He holds a degree in Economics from Manchester University.

Christopher Kinsella BA MA FCMA FCMI, Acting Chief Executive
Christopher is acting Chief Executive of the Chartered Management Institute (CMI), having served for four years on the Board as a Trustee and Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee.
He is a seasoned Finance Director and Chief Financial Officer with a pedigree of operational, corporate and international finance roles in blue-chip UK and USA organisations; TI Plc, GE (USA), GEC Marconi, Meggitt Plc, Burton Group and Coopers & Lybrand.
As Group Finance Director and Chief Financial Officer of TI Automotive, he led the £1billion management buy out of the business in 2000. This was a 22,000 people organisation operating in 28 countries and Chris was responsible for all aspects of finance, IT, Treasury, investor relations, funding, acquisitions and served as a main Board Director. In 2008 he led the sale of the Group to a consortium of investors.
He was also the Group Finance Director for Dyson Group Plc, successfully restructuring and repositioning the business and has also served in non executive and advisory roles for a variety of other organisations.
Chris is a Chartered Management Accountant with business degrees at Bachelor and Masters level, and has been FCMI since 1985.

Suzanne Andrade CMgr MCMI
Suzanne Andrade is the Managing Director of the Channel Islands Skills Academy (CISA), the first pan-Island Academy to be established in the Channel Islands.
Suzanne is founder and Chairman of the CMI Guernsey Branch and is committed to skills development of the CMI brand. She is a Chartered Manager and holds a BA Hons, MBA and is currently studying towards a DBA with Liverpool University.
Prior to establishing her own business, Suzanne worked for a large commercial training provider and various Private and PLC organisations in the UK. Suzanne is a member of the Chamber of Commerce Executive Council in Guernsey and has previously held a NED position with the Institute for Learning.
Suzanne was elected to the Board in September 2009 for a 3 year term and she is also Chair of the Management and Leadership Development Committee at CMI.
John Burgess FCMI
John Burgess is a Consultant Clinical Scientist and a Partner with the Health Professions Council. His first degree is in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering and he has an MBA from Durham Business School. He is a Chartered Engineer and a Chartered Scientist.
In 2007, John took early retirement after 10 years as Divisional Director with the Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Trust. During his time with the NHS he led a significant number of high profile initiatives, resulting in the consistent delivery of services on time and within budget. He has a particular interest in Leadership and Management in the Public Services.
John joined the Institute in April 1991 and became a Fellow in January 2001.
John was re-elected to the Board in 2010 for a 3 year term. He was subsequently appointed as Chairman of the Membership Development Committee. John has been a member of the Institute’s Nominations Committee since December 2006.

Judy Craske CMC MIC CMgr FCMI
Judy joined the Royal Air Force in 1985, rising to the rank of Squadron Leader by age 30. While serving in the RAF she was, among her other duties, responsible for specialist catering and accommodation services on UK and overseas bases, managing up to 130 military and civilian personnel.
In 1996 Judy retired from military life to accept a post with Universal Sodexho’s Remote Site Division. Here she was promoted to positions at corporate, regional and field level, usually to “resolve” critical strategic issues. With the resultant extensive exposure to proposal and contract management scenarios, in countries as diverse as Norway, Netherlands, Kazakhstan, Angola and Gabon, her final challenge with Sodexho, in 2003, was an appointment to the corporate HQ in Paris as Head of Communications where she spent almost 3 years.
Between 2005 and March 2011, Judy worked as Transition Manager (Strategic HR) for Magnox Ltd at the Wylfa Power Station at Anglesey. Judy established policies, during implementation of the organisation’s resourcing strategy, designed to establish openness and transparency in the selection of talent management candidates, and she also established and developed a specialised Learning & Development Centre for Magnox. With an annual budget of £1.3million and a staff of 16, the centre provided over 400 legally-required nuclear site license courses while delivering over 120,000 hours of training annually.
Judy is currently Director of “Shaping the Future”, a £4million European Social Fund Project with the purpose of establishing skills recognition, adaptation and thus alternative employability for the 1,200 strong nuclear workforce of the now decommissioning Magnox nuclear power stations in North West Wales. The project deliberately prioritises the hitherto disadvantaged region which needs a more diverse skills footprint, bringing with it a more sustainable and stable economy.
Judy was first elected to the Board in 2008 for a 3 year term; she was re-elected for a further 3 years as a result of the 2011 election process. She is Chair of the Qualifications and Awards Committee and also Chair of the Council of the Institute of Consulting.

Ian MacEachern OBE CMgr FCMI
Ian is currently a non-executive member of Aberystwyth University Development Advisory Board and Chair of its Strategy Sub-committee.
In his previous role he was Head of Business Planning at Her Majesty’s Land Registry, a Government Department that is also an Executive Agency with trading fund status that makes no call on monies voted by Parliament. It gives legal effect to all conveyancing and secured credit business in England and Wales and provides a range of other services to organisations and individuals concerned with interests in property.
Ian had responsibility for strategic business planning and performance management and he worked closely with board members to shape the Land Registry’s strategic direction and transform it to a smaller, leaner and more sustainable business.
Previously, Ian was a commissioned officer in the Royal Air Force from which he retired in 2007. His career in the Royal Air Force embraced a broad spectrum of management roles, latterly at director level, including human resources, finance, information systems, project management, and management of change.
Prior to being awarded a commission in the Royal Air Force in 1978, he worked with Scottish Widows Fund & Life Assurance Society in Edinburgh, as an apprentice actuary and at Dingwall Academy in the Highlands of Scotland, teaching mathematics.
He is a Fellow of the CIPD and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. He was made an OBE in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List of 1994.
Ian was elected to the Board in 2008 for a 3 year term. He was re-elected for a further 3 year term as a result of the 2011 Board election process. He Chairs the Marketing and Policy Development Committee.
Phillippa Williamson CCMI
Phillippa Williamson is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the Serious Fraud Office (SFO). Here she is working to maximise efficiency and effectiveness in the SFO and is working to build the public’s trust in the SFO to protect society from serious, complex fraud and corruption.
Previously, Phillippa was the Director of Operations and Deputy Director of National Teams and Serious Civil Compliance at the HM Revenue & Customs, where she was responsible for 2,400 staff over 35 locations. She has also worked in a number of Director positions at the Inland Revenue.
Phillippa was elected to the Board in October 2010 for a three year term, and was appointed as Chair of the Finance and Audit Committee in September 2011.
Dr Lorna Gibson CMgr MCMI
Co-opted to the Board in November 2011 for a one year term, Lorna's current role is as Head of Research and Innovation for Great Ormond Street NHS Trust. This includes providing leadership and operational management of research and innovation within both Great Ormond Street and the UCL Institute of Child Health.
Previously Lorna was Divisional Manager, Surgery and Interventional Science, Faculty of Biomedicine at University College London.
As well as a PhD in Music from the University of London, Lorna holds management qualifications including NVQ5 in Operational Management from University College London.
