Update on CMI public relations performance in recent months –
Coverage in numbers
During October and November 2015 we generated 449 pieces of coverage, bringing the 2015-16 total so far to 1,994.
New PR agency
We appointed Good Relations to succeed Kindred in October as our retained PR agency. The new relationship has already proved to be highly fruitful, with excellent media coverage achieved from the launch of the Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship. They are currently working on a long-term PR campaign to promote the Apprenticeship in 2016, as well as promoting thought leadership content. They are also developing a new PR strategy, including updated key messaging and positioning on key issues in line with our new value proposition.
Ann Francke quoted in Number 10 press release, 25 October
Ann Francke was quoted alongside the Prime Minister in a Number 10 press release announcing the Government’s latest initiative to address gender pay inequality. The story led the news agenda for the day. Ann was interviewed for Sky News and BBC, including Radio 5Live. Her interview comments were replayed throughout the day in news bulletins in national and regional BBC radio stations. Print coverage highlights included the FT. CMI featured in more than 100 print and broadcast reports of the story.
CMI comment on the Lord Davies report, 29 October
Petra Wilton was quoted in a press statement we issued in support of the Lord Davies report on increasing the number of women on boards. Petra’s comment was featured prominently in media coverage, placing CMI at the heart of the story. Petra was interviewed live on ITV News, and Patrick Woodman was interviewed live on Sky News. The highlight was being the focus of the Times’ coverage.
Chartered Manager Degree Apprenticeship launch, 11 November
The launch of our Degree Apprenticeship generated 30+ pieces of quality coverage in key national business, trade and regional press and broadcast. A highlight from day was Ann being interviewed for Sky News’s Ian King Live alongside apprentice Haleema Baker-Mir. The story has a long life, with coverage appearing every week since its launch. The highlight has been an exceptional interview with Ann in The Economist.
CMI comments on the Apprenticeship Levy, 25 November
Petra Wilton was quoted in a press statement we issued in support of the Chancellor’s proposals for an Apprenticeship Levy, as set out in his Autumn Statement. Petra’s comment was featured widely in media coverage of the proposed Levy, placing CMI as a lead commentator on the issue. Highlights include being quoted in BBC coverage, the FT, and The Sun.
Management Book of the Year, throughout November
The 2016 Management Book of the Year competition was launched with a series of editorials published in the print and online pages of the popular Office Politics section of City AM. The editorials were written by shortlisted authors based on the premises of their books. To date, City AM has published four articles with the promise of many more.
Examples include a thought piece on the business lessons from Game of Thrones, and mindsets of successful leaders.
Learning to lead: The digital potential, 8 December
The launch of the thought leadership report generated coverage in key trade media titles, including HR Magazine and Training Journal. The highlight was a quarter-page article in the Jobs section of the Evening Standard.
