CMI recognised as UK's top awarding body

Federation of Awarding Bodies names CMI as Awarding Organisation of the Year

[26 October 2016] - The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) has been named the Awarding Organisation of the Year at the Federation of Awarding Bodies (FAB) Awards.

The award, sponsored by Cirrus Assessment, recognised CMI’s contribution to education and skills in the UK through working with education partners to increasing the number and standard of professional managers in the UK. In the past two years, these partnerships have seen a 15% year-on-year growth to over 32,000 managers qualifying, and generated record levels of satisfaction in both CMI’s learner and partner community.

Steve Heappey, CMI’s director of qualifications & service delivery, commented:

“We’re delighted to have received this prestigious award from FAB. Through working as an awarding body in partnership with employers, universities, colleges, education providers and other professional bodies, we’re now creating many more routes for established and new managers to develop the professional skills the UK needs to meet our future productivity challenges.”

CMI has played a leading role in gaining approval from government and working with a group of 30 employers to create the new suite of trailblazer apprenticeships in management and leadership. These now provide a progression route for investing in managers at all levels, and for CMI’s partners to grow their business.

Additionally, CMI works across all education and business sectors including in higher education working with more than 90 of the UK’s 135 business schools to deliver dual-accredited courses. In the last year alone 15,000 students have taken dual-accredited higher education courses, helping more graduates to enhance their employability with CMI’s qualifications embedded as part of the university offering.

Stephen Wright, FAB Chief Executive, commented:

“FAB was pleased to award the prestigious title of Awarding Organisation of the Year Award to CMI in recognition of their achievements in awarding valued and valid qualifications in management across the UK which support professional development and progression.”
