New partnership opens door to Canadian managers to earn Chartered status in the UK
The Chartered Management Institute (CMI) has announced its partnership with the Canadian Institute of Management (CIM), marking CMI's first partnership in North America.
The partnership is the latest development in CMI's international expansion strategy and is the first time CMI has worked with the Canadian Institute of Management, Canada's chartered professional management institute. The relationship will see CIM accredited Chartered Managers able to become Chartered in the UK.
As part of the partnership agreement, holders of the CIM Chartered Manager accreditation can earn the UK equivalent and benefit from the CMI's management resources, such as the ManagementDirect learning portal, research and webinars. Existing CMI Chartered Managers can also apply to become Chartered Managers through the Canadian Institute of Management. CIM has provided education and certification to over 80,000 managers since its founding in 1942.
Chartered Manager is the UK's highest management accreditation. According to CMI's Mapping Management Excellence 2015 report, Chartered Managers add on average £391k in value to their employer, and 83% say they have become a better manager as a result of attaining professional status.
Matt Roberts, Director of Membership at CMI, commented:
We're delighted to partner with CIM to collaboratively raise the standards of management and leadership both in the UK and North America. Productivity and ongoing business success are closely tied to quality of leadership and management and this partnership demonstrates the growing awareness of the business benefits that Chartered Manager status delivers on a global scale, equipping workers with the professional skills to lead effectively.
Dr. Matthew Jelavic, President and CEO of CIM Chartered Managers Canada, commented:
This is the first step in creating a unified global chartered qualification in management that is recognised worldwide as meeting high standards of professionalism, ethical conduct and continuing professional development that can make a de-facto contribution to global business organisations. We look forward to working with the Chartered Management Institute to make this a reality.
