UWE Bristol Professor to head CMI’s South West Regional Board
Professor Jane Harrington, deputy vice-chancellor and provost at the University of the West of England, has been named by the Chartered Management Institute as the new chair of its South West Regional Board. Professor Harrington has been appointed for a two-year term starting this month [October 2017].
Professor Harrington has worked in higher education for over 25 years. She served on UWE Bristol’s board of governors for over eight years and is currently chair of the Cabot Learning Federation. Prior to taking up the role of deputy vice-chancellor, she held the post of pro-vice chancellor and executive dean of Business and Law.
CMI is the only chartered professional body for managers and leaders and counts 157,000 in its membership, with almost 7,000 members in the South West. The regional board delivers practical support to its members and the wider management community, working with CMI’s higher education partners, employers and education providers, and hosting events in the region.
In recent years, Professor Harrington has worked with CMI on research projects, including 21st Century Leaders, which looks at ways to improve graduate employability. She was made a CMI Companion, a network of senior business leaders in 2014.
