The UK population is ageing. By 2020, almost 1 in 3 workers will be over 50. But new research by CMI and CIPD highlights shows just 14 per cent of HR managers think their organisation is prepared enough to cope with the issues that come with an ageing workforce. Worse, only one-third say their Board is taking the issue seriously.
The good news is that apathy and a lack of preparation doesn’t have to be the norm. It makes good business sense to build a diverse workforce – a fact recognised by 93 per cent.
We want to help employers to support their older staff better by implementing best-practice in terms of diversity policies. We want to empower employees everywhere to feel confident about the role they play and help them to be ready to challenge inequality should they face it.
Whether you are an employer looking to provide equal opportunities, a manager supporting older workers someone facing discrimination at either end of the ‘age spectrum’, we have the resources to help. Take some time to explore our resources toolkit and find out what you can do next.
