Regional Convention
Last year the Institute appointed our new Chief Executive with the aim of taking us forward with an exciting and ambitious agenda of development. This message is your invitation to attend this year’s Regional Convention which will take the form of an afternoon dedicated to the affairs of the Institute.
The event will take place as above starting at 2.00pm, and there will be no charge for attending.
The Convention is intended to provide all our members with the opportunity to better understand what the Institute is seeking to achieve, to encourage members to express their views, and also to become more involved in any way they wish to do so.
This year's convention will be held on Tuesday 19 May 2009.
At the JJB Stadium, Loire Drive, Robin Park, Wigan WN5 0UH.
The event with include presentations by Ruth Spellman OBE, Chief Executive, and Judith Craske, Board of Trustees which will provide insights into the vision, strategy, structure and business objectives for the immediate future. These will be followed by presentations on the Institute’s activities within the North West region, including a review of the regional strategy, regional projects with external partners, the roles of the Regional Forum and our branch network, plus a focus on our regional business priorities.
One of the new development areas involves the Institute in identifying and appointing Ambassadors, people able to demonstrate and promote the importance of management and leadership skills within organisations. Narinder Uppal, the Institute’s newly appointed Ambassadors Manager will provide information and guidance on this new initiative and we will be seeking thoughts and ideas from our members.
In the late afternoon there will be optional inter-active sessions which will be focused on how the Institute should develop its activities and profile in the region. These sessions will focus on our events and networking, how to improve student conversion and member recruitment, our relationships with CMI Approved Centres and educational institutions, including sector skills agencies.
