Twenty years or more ago, Charles Handy talked about the portfolio career being the future way of work. Today, this is the reality.

The Thames Valley CMI Management Trends Network is putting on the second of a series of three events on the theme of 'Whatever happened to the working day?' It is entitled 'The Portfolio Existence' and will feature speakers who work for a number of clients - some 24/7. It is a most challenging way to earn a living but one that is increasingly common as self-employment grows. It is also an increasing tendency within organisations. Achieving a work/life balance is tricky, as is balancing the needs and demands of clients. On the other hand, there are clearly benefits to a way of working that is portable and flexible.

To explore these aspects there will be three 15-20 minute presentations from...

Clara Bentham, MD of Sunnega Consulting Ltd, specialising in corporate communications in the pharmaceutical sector.

Richard Byford, MD of Stablebridge Ltd, with a background in technology and advising the cabinet office, he is also a serial entrepreneur.

Peter Thomson, Director at Wisework Ltd, consultant on agile working, co-author of 'Future Work'  and visiting fellow at Henley Business School.

Followed by a Q&A session facilitated by Management Trends chairman, Jacqui Hogan (also a portfolio worker!).

Refreshments (sandwiches, nibbles and coffee) are included.

Please book on the CMI website by Tuesday 24 June to ensure that the event goes ahead (we need a minimum of 30 participants to be cost effective).
