The Welsh Government suggest that the Future Generations Bill is seen as being for the wellbeing of our future generations and is our opportunity to ensure that our public services work together to achieve our long term goals.

The Minister has asked Peter Davies to pilot a national conversation to improve our understanding of long term issues that future generations might face. He wants to involve people across Wales in conversations on what are the most important issues for them in improving their lives and those of their families and communities.

As part of the relaunched Sustainable Development Charter the Welsh Government has renewed their commitment to help organisations embed sustainable development as a central organising principle. Sustainable Development involves putting in place structures, systems and processes that are right for the present day, but also prepare us for the future. It draws on science, economics and social knowledge and at its best applies creativity, exploration and innovation. Many signatories to the SD Charter are SMEs who have benefitted from the opportunity to network with larger organisations.
