The Future Aircraft Carriers (FAC) will be the largest ships ever built for the Royal Navy, with a programme cost of about £6Bn. The inherent management challenges are substantial. Michael Court will provide some basic facts about the FAC and describe Thales’ element of the work. He will then outline the Aircraft Carrier Alliance (ACA)’s management structure, the interaction of the project management function within the ACA and the complex task of integrated planning with multiple Industrial partners. Finally he will discuss Performance Measurement versus Key Performance Indicators – which is best? – before taking questions.
Michael Court is Thales UK’s programme manager for power and propulsion for the FAC. He has over 20 years very varied experience of management in the defence sector, including many international contracts.
