The Airedale Management Team will present how they recovered from the effects of the devastating fire in their Leeds facility in 2013

It is late Friday afternoon on 6th Sept 2013, the Management Team at Airedale Manufacturing in Leeds were clearing their desks and beginning to think about the weekend.

Airedale FireMany of the facility’s 350 strong workforce had already left for the day and then the fire alarm sounded. No doubt after the usual hesitation the Team evacuated and headed for the muster points.

However  it soon became apparent that this was no false alarm and there was a real fire and it was spreading quickly.

Over the next four hours the local fire service supported by appliances from all over the county struggled to get the fire under control.

When the fire was finally extinguished the main factory and other major parts of the facility were totally destroyed.

Fortunately there were no injuries, however the Management Team now had a new set of challenges, how to save the business and also a responsibility to save the jobs of 350 employees.

If it was your factory or office that suffered a similar fate, what would you do?

Come along on Thursday 15th May to Leeds Met University and hear how Clive Parkman the Airedale MD and his team dealt with this crisis.
