The local authorities in Wales have been subjected to a programme of spending cuts during the current parliament with a further 4.5% cut proposed for the next financial year. The local authorities have “targeted” the likes of the leisure centres, the libraries etc.  An alternative to losing that service includes the establishment of a social enterprise.

Is mutualisation a model to save/ regenerate public services?

Mark (Management Consultant: Mutual Ventures) is an experienced project manager with excellent knowledge of local government. He has managed a number of major transformational projects involving the establishment of local authority owned social enterprises.

Mark is now working with Swansea Business School looking at the potential in Wales.
