This event aims to share practical ways of helping you recruit and develop the best talent and has been organised in partnership with Birmingham City Business School and the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD).

The way we hire, manage and develop our people is fundamental to business success and growth.  Takeaway practical insights and access the CIPDs SME-focused resources, also hear how they’re supporting HR professionals in smaller organisations across the West Midlands!

Dr Jill Miller will present highlights from her research with SMEs from a variety of industries. She has developed a 4-stage framework of SME growth/maturity and will talk about the different people practices and approaches that are most effective within each stage. She will also take a practical look at how smaller organisations are effectively recruiting and developing talented people, and how they are retaining their founding culture and core values as their workforce grows.
