Join us for the inaugural meeting of The CMI Management Trends Network 'management book club'.
At our meetings, members will choose the book to be discussed, the only condition being that it must be entertaining, provocative and management related!
Our first book is: Head, Heart and Guts: How the World's Best Companies Develop Complete Leaders’ - by David L. Dotlich, Peter C. Cairo and Stephen Rhinesmith
Leaders and managers today often rely exclusively on a single quality—head or heart or guts. Unfortunately, when you do that you ignore other aspects of what is required to be successful. If all you are trying to do is demonstrate your analytical rigour, you may come across as insensitive and unethical. Perhaps even more significantly, you will lack the ability to respond effectively outside a narrow range of situations. When you’re trying to create a compassionate culture, you may miss opportunities that a more astute and strategic leader would have seen. Relying solely on the courage of your convictions and toughness may cause you to underestimate the negative consequences for the people you are trying to lead.
In this book David Dotlich et al look at the qualities that managers needs to be resilient and thrive in the business world of today.
Registration from 6.30pm with the main event commencing at 7.00pm.
