Joint event with UCLan – “Leading Purposeful Organisation” featuring author Clive Wilson, with Tim Hopkinson, MD, Hargreaves Ducting, Bury and Phil Clothier, CEO, Barrett Values Centre, Bury. Clive Wilson will speak about the extensive research and his findings that he carried out for the book and will then interview the two guest business leaders about their own leadership styles and business approaches. An event not to be missed, returning to speak at UCLan by special request.
In February 2015 Kogan Page published “Designing the Purposeful Organization – how to inspire business performance beyond boundaries”. At this CMI event Clive Wilson, the book’s author, will provide an overview of his thinking and then interview two business leaders who he believes epitomise purposeful leadership. The book emphasises the need for organizations to truly understand why they do what they do from the perspectives of all key stakeholders. From these insights they can derive their most inspiring purpose and align the efforts of everything they do to this focal point. We will examine the role of purpose, vision, engagement, structure, character, results, success and talent (each of which is featured in a chapter of Clive’s book).
Our two “purposeful leaders”:
Tim Hopkinson has been managing director of Hargreaves Ductwork Limited since 2011, overseeing the successful transition from what was Senior Hargreaves to the new M+W Group owned company. He has built on 140 years of heritage and a worldwide reputation the Bury based High Integrity Ventilation Solutions and Ultra High Purity Pipework specialist has for quality and delivery. Throughout his first 4 years at the company he delivered significant growth by focusing on new key sectors along with the further development of Hargreaves’ unparalleled excellence within the Nuclear sector.
Tim has extensive experience in engineering, construction and building services. Starting as an apprentice with Derbyshire steel company, Chesterfield Cylinders, his career progressed over 15 years to become production engineering manager. Transferring to an electrical contractor he successfully established a business specialising in systems integration for process industries leading to the role of managing director for the group. Thereafter he joined the board of a South Yorkshire based mechanical and electrical contractor from which he went on to his current role at Hargreaves. Tim has also completed an MBA at the University of Liverpool at the highest level and supports both the HVAC and nuclear sectors, giving up his time to nationally recognised trade and industry associations.
Tim lives in North Wales with his wife and two children and his interests outside of work include golf and Manchester City football club.
Phil Clothier is the CEO of Barrett Values Centre. Their Cultural Transformation Tools are used by consultants and leaders of organisations, schools, communities and governments in over 90 countries.
