Following the successful first event held this year, this second event will focus on “value based recruitment” (VBR).

Recruitment is a time consuming and expensive process for all organisations, no matter how big or small.

VBR is an approach to help attract and select employee's whose personal Values and behaviours align with those of the organisation. Come and listen to how one organisation has used this approach in employing and developing its staff

Jade Tindall

I am a technical manager specialising in Repairs and maintenance for Social Housing with the additional understanding and knowledge of working with an ‘In House’ workforce. Over the years I have developed an understanding of how to best promote and gain high levels of productivity whilst maintaining excellent customer care and quality standards. I believe that teamwork and clear lines of communication are essential to good working relationships within my workforce and by implementing morale boosting techniques such as weekly meetings, removing obstacles and providing innovative solutions collectively the team thrive in what is essentially a very busy and demanding service.

I also look forward to meeting our customers and seek out their views at every opportunity. I really do enjoy discussing ways to improve our service or just getting their view on how they perceive our section. I am never afraid of their honesty or feedback and make a point of learning from any mistakes.

I am conscious that managing a large team of mixed abilities and skills sometimes needs a personal touch and to this end I form relationships with each and every member of my team. This ensures that the team see me as approachable and someone is not only a manager but a person.

Helen Stubbings

I have worked at Yorkshire Coast Homes since the age of 19. I started as an Administrative Assistant working my way up to the Chief Executive's PA before landing my dream role as Human Resources Manager.

In 2009 I successfully completed a BA Honours Degree in Business Management. I am currently studying CIPD Advanced Level 7 Diploma in Human Resource Management/Development.

As Human Resources Manager, I am responsible for working with the Leadership Team in developing human resource strategies, which support the culture and ethos of the organisation and continuously keeps them under review to ensure they are fit for purpose.

I monitor and encourage good employment relations and ensure the provision of a high performing human resource service ensuring effective recruitment and retention of appropriately skilled and engaged staff, and through this maximise performance management and effectiveness.

I manage and develop a team of staff, ensuring they acquire and maintain appropriate skills and motivation to deliver an effective HR and Payroll Service in line with the Organisation’s values.

I enjoy all aspects of the role I do but more specifically I am passionate about Equality, Diversity and Inclusion.
