WiM (Women in Management) is our network in CMI that aims to address the specific issues affecting women managers today and to further develop your potential and life chances.
This WiM event is an opportunity to discuss and share your views and ideas about Flexible Working.
The most common misconception of flexible working is women working part time to fit around looking after children. The reality is that 27% of the working population need flexible working for reasons or seasons of their life (Lynne Copp - The Worklife Company).
- How does a business accommodate a reasonable request for flexible working?
- How does agreed flexible working not impact the business, the customer, other colleagues?
- With ever improving technology the possibility increases - why spend more time in the office than you need to?
Join us at this event to discuss this hot topic. The format is a short presentation /introduction to the topic followed by a facilitated ‘round the table’ discussion. We will capture the ideas on a flip chart with a view to creating a short paper on the subject for sharing with a wider audience afterwards.
Although this is a WiM event, everyone is welcome to join in.
Our discussion leader is Marielle Patterson.
Marielle Patterson started her working life as an assistant to a financial controller in 1991 after graduating with a BA Hons degree in Contemporary European Studies with Spanish. She most recently moved to Sterling Commerce, who were bought by IBM in 2010 and now Marielle describes herself as a people focused, self motivated, tenacious project & management professional. To her it is not the how and when the job gets done but what gets done that counts. Constraints of 9 to 5 don't fly! Flexibility is the key, and knowing how and when it can apply leads to a productive, engaged and happier team.
