Please join us for our free monthly peer learning, networking and discussion event. This month Michael Weatherburn of Imperial College will be leading the discussion entitled “Management: Past, Present & Future".

Whether we realise it or not, history powerfully motivates us. Or more accurately, our interpretation of history, and where we fit into its imagined trajectory, powerfully motivates us. But the past is by no means neutral: researchers contest versions of events, or - even more fun - entirely shift the goalposts to different historical people, places and events. Either way, the lessons from the past which inspire us can and do change. Drawing on how historical interpretations of F.W. Taylor and the 'Hawthorne effect' have changed over time and why, this event will draw on our collective wisdom and experience to work out what we can draw from management's past, what we know about its present, and where we can go next.

Registration will commence at 18:00 and the discussion will start at 18:30.

There will be a mid-way break for networking and the event will close at 20:30.

The Chartered Management Institute Square Mile Peer Learning & Networking Group is a friendly place where anyone working or studying in Central London in management and leadership is welcome to join
