We believe that strong business performance and the delivery of public services depends on high quality management and leadership. We are committed to encouraging and supporting the lifelong development of managers and our primary aim is to raise the standards of management performance. So naturally, we endeavour to award those that demonstrate management and leadership best practice.

The CMI's Gold Medal is the highest accolade awarded to those that demonstrated outstanding and inspirational management and leadership skills.  The Gold Medal recipient for 2009 is Lord Karan Bilimoria, for his work as Chief Executive of Cobra Beer Ltd.
