Media exposure for local businesses
Dear All, on the 21st August (Sunday this week) I'm taking part in a regional charity event http://www.acorns.org.uk/cycle with over 150 participants. This event runs only once a year and attracts media attention in regional newspapers, radio stations and in the social media. For some of you this might be a good opportunity to promote your business: for a small donation submitted via my fundrising website:http://www.justgiving.com/scratchy I am happy to place your website address/logo on the bicycle, helmet or clothes.
My colleagues from Birmingham City University have chosen my fancy costume- Scratchy from Da Easy Crew - and the charity organisers have already expressed interest in featuring me on their FB site. There will be photographers and media during the event.
The challenge is a 20miles cycling road and off-road from Bridgnorth to Bewdley to raise funds for Acorns Children Hospice - a West Midlands charity providing support for local children and families. I'm not a seasoned cyclist but I've been training for this event for over a month now and I'm hoping to get to the finish line in just under 4hrs. :o)
If you are interested please donate electronically via my fundraising page: www.justgiving.com/scratchy (just £4 could pay for the medication for a child for one day) - and confirm via email to lilia.pegg@bcu.ac.uk the details you would like me to display.
Kind Regards,
Lilia Pegg
How did the ride go Lilia? Think you're duty bound to post up your profile pic from Facebook ;-)
271.88 raised in total (+ gift aid)! Fab! Massive thanks to everyone for the support!
It was a sweaty adventure and there was a lot of struggle cycling (pushing the bike) up hill! I managed to do it in 3.5hrs - not too bad for a novice cyclist! I trained for a month before the event but it's not enough, it does require a fair bit of fitness to be able to do it! It was the hottest day in August, the countryside views were stunning! Lots of cheers and compliments about my costume from everyone on the road. The mouse ears were a hit! :o)
Some great places I passed on my way - Highley and the Severn Valley country park (a nice stretch for cycling in the forest); Chelmarsh Reservoir - simply stunning, great for picnics, cycling and sailing; Arley - the arboretum, a fab pub, great for walks, cycling, the bridge over the river Severn and the steam railway; Wyre Forest - variety of cycling paths to suit all levels, wildlife, picnics; and finally - Bewdley!
Pics and video on my page: http://www.justgiving.com/scratchy Enjoy!
Haha, that is brilliant Lilia :) Congrats on completing the ride, and on raising a good sum of money.
Nice one Lilia, cracking outfit lol
