Opportunities for CMI Fellows and Members to Network

Dear fellow member,

When we consider the time we all spend fulfilling our work and family commitments, commuting, travelling and recovering when we get home, we are beginning to lose the ability to achieve some of our most basic needs; the ability to interact with like minded people and communicate in person.

We spend so much time trying to compensate by texting and using voicemail, on digital communications such as Twitter and Facebook that it's not surprising that mobile phones and computers are taking over our lives.

As a business owner and director I am not short of opportunities to network and as a former IC Regional Chair, I am always interested to meet other members, but I would also like to meet other like-minded individuals. I would much rather get to know them on a personal basis.

We have set up a social networking club in Cardiff to do just that. The aim of the 459 Club is simple, we encourage individuals to leave work from 4.59pm on the last Friday of each month, venture out, join us and meet like-minded people, to communicate in person and make new contacts and friends at an easily accessible venue within central Cardiff.

The concept is simple, Membership is by personal invitation or referral. We give our members the assurance that we do not encourage business sales or unprofessional behaviour. So you will be able to relax at the end of the month in the knowledge that you won't be bombarded by demanding colleagues, sales pitches, marketing literature or painful presentations.

As a current CMI and IC Fellow I would like to support members from both organisations, so if you are a chief executive, business director, business owner, senior professional or technical specialist, we will go out of our way to provide a warm, welcoming and comfortable environment for you to meet fellow professional members and offer you the opportunity to relax and mix with similar minded members.

Yes this is indeed a great way to help each other, especially puting names on faces which can not be acheive through other means like the networking sites. However, please take onboard those of us outside the shore.

Thank you. I'm keen to encourage CMI and IC Members in their interaction with other business professionals. The 459 Club should help this initiative. Any ideas on how we may be able to offer this across to the wider audience for those based in or around south Wales?

Hello Everyone, it's great to see such interaction already!

I'd like to take this opportunity to introduce myself.

My name is Anneka Winchester, I am the Business Manager for South Wales on behalf of CMI.

Wales is a fantastic, progressive and skilled Country. It is a great pleasure to work alongside such motivated, committed and enthusiastic people.

I agree the 459 Club is an excellent opportunity to meet like minded people. We could do with a similar model like this in Scotland. Any suggestions fellow Scots members?

There seems to be some confusion.

The 459 Club is an independent Social Networking Club for professionals. Whilst we are more than happy to support both the CMI and IC, we are an independent business and are not part of the CMI or IC.
