New to Networking and on the Brink of a Big Change!

Hello to all at CMI.  I am Guy Neale and currently work as an Army Officer at the MOD.  I'm taking the big step of leaving on completion of an MBA this summer after 9 years in my current job.

I'm interested in learning more about organisations and individuals specialising in Behavioural Change, Leadership Development, Creative Approaches to Problem Solving, Culture Change etc.  I plan to throw myself firmly into CMI events and look forward to getting to know some of you in the future!

Best Wishes,

Guy

Hi Guy.
Glad to see you're going to make the most of our events. Interesting point about networking too.
Every meeting of every day is an opportunity to Network....but are we any good at it?
Miranda Stephenson will be at The NEYH Event on the 11th May to help us make the best of every Networking opportunity. See CMI Events page for more information.
Let me know if I can help you further.
Kevin (CMI Events Manager)

Hi Guy, welcome to the site.  How's the MBA going?

Hi Guy - welcome aboard! Where are you based?

Guy,

Ex squaddie to future ex squaddie, good luck, civvy street is a bit of a culture change and the MBA will help.

Maintain the lessons from the military as they shine through in both private and public sector environments, especially with regards coping strategies and motivation and in these particularly challenging times both sectors require good leaders.

Any job offers yet? What regiment are you and what trade or skills are you bringing with you?

Thanks for the reply Kevin.  I think your comment 'are we any good at it' is certainly key.  I know that in my own case it's something new and if I'm honest initially quite uncomfortable! I'll have a look at what I'm up to on 11 May... thanks for the tip!

Hi Peter.  I'm working in London at the moment and ideally hope to find a new opportunity for September here too.  I'm not closing myself off to wider options though!

Phillip,

Your good will is much appreciated!  I'm currently serving in The Royal Welsh working in a staff appointment in the MOD.  My last couple of roles have been predominantly in a personnel capacity (Adjutant then SO3 J1 Pers).  I've shaped the MBA around Creativity, Innovation and Change, reinforced with NLP and ILM coaching qualifications to hopefully complement the leadership/motivation qualities you mention.

No job offers as yet.  I recently went through psychometrics and a couple of rounds of interviews with a Big 4 consultancy but did not make it to the final stage.  As the second interview was my first face-to-face the feedback was invaluable and I will be sure to learn and adapt for the next opportunity.  All tips gratefully received!

Best wishes,

Guy

Thanks for the welcome Adi.  The MBA is going well thanks.  I chose to study through the OU whilst continuing to work in the Army.  It's been a huge personal challenge to manage my time to fit work/study/private life but has been fascinating and I hope will prove a great stepping stone to new opportunities.  Only time will tell!

Best wishes,

Guy

There's lots going on in London Guy - Adi and Chris Seow will be able to point you in the right direction!

Best of luck with the MBA.

Kind regards

Peter

Good stuff Guy.  The OU is somewhere I've considered for an MBA.  Do you recommend it?

Welcome Guy,

Sounds like you have a plan, hope it all works out.  Good luck

Sam

PS OU student too...but different course :)
