Newcomer - Just Graduated!

Hi Everyone,

I have just graduated (MSc) and undertaking a 12 month Knowledge Transfer Partnership looking at business development in a charity. Within the Partnership I am lucky enough to be able to control my own personal development with CMI. I am looking to go into Management Consultancy so if anyone has any tips or advice on working in this sector and how to get along and succeed (or equally any recruitment managers with advice of how to get through the horribly competitive recruitment process for some of the big firms' graduate schemes!) then please get in touch.

Nice to meet you all!

Carly

Hi Carly and welcome to the CMI community!

You may be interested to know that an organisation within CMI is the Institute of Consulting. They have a number of resources on their site about getting into consultancy. Take a look at www.iconsulting.org.uk

We've also worked with Inside Careers who have a website with some good information on it http://www.insidecareers.co.uk/__802574d80054fdad.nsf!opendatabase

And of course there's here!

All the best.

Congratulations Carly and welcome to CMI. As John stated the IC is a great organisation trying to drive professional standards with specific regard to consulting. There are some great folk there who I am sure would love to help you out.

Great choice btw on how to spend the next 12 months. Many charities do not get the chance to have people such as yourself help due to the increasing financial pressures and funding cuts. Keep us updated on what you learn along the way.
