Britain 8th in management league table

management league table

Taken from an interesting discussion of management practice across different countries conducted by Stanford University.

Interesting, but I'm always a bit wary of things like this because you're asking people to rate their own behaviour.  Not the most accurate way to gauge what's going on.

Even the US only gets around 3.3 out of 5.  Not exactly earth shattering is it.  Looks like there's a lot of room for improvement all round.

Such 'helicopter views' are always interesting and thought-provoking - but also tend to mask the underlying truth. As with statistics for average earnings, where the top 2% significantly enhance the average, I wonder what the median score would be? My own experience tends to suggest that the 'typical' small to medium-sized organisation would score significantly lower than this table suggests!

Interesting expression Nigel.  Can't say I've ever come across a 'helicopter view' before?
