Do black managers need a leg up in football?

The Professional Footballers Association (the trade union for players, coaches etc.) are suggesting that clubs should be forced to interview black candidates for managerial positions in a bid to increase the number of black managers working in the English game.

Madness surely?

Crazy suggestion.  Color has no place in recruitment at all.

This is crazy. I don't see many managers in the English game from an Eastern Hemisphere background but no-one is arguing for positive discrimination there.

I suppose the PFA will argue that there are lots of black footballers, so in theory therefore there should be a similar proportion of black managers.  It's an issue that's certainly worth investigating, but quotas are not the answer for me.

If they want to help black people becoming football managers I would imagine understanding the real reasons behind their lack of presence and trying to help improve the situation would be better than forcing clubs to hire based on skin colour.

Best person for the job, in my view.  Anything else is discriminatory in all but name.
