Are young managers better than old ones?

A new survey suggests young people are becoming increasingly concerned about "job blockers" - older workers who refuse to retire.
More than a third of those questioned said there weren't enough jobs for older people to be in work, and that younger workers were more productive.
But are older members of staff blocking the way? Or do we have to accept people need to work longer to make ends meet?
No is the simple answer to that. You can't simplify to such an extent. Some managers are clearly better than others but their age has nothing to do with it. This notion that older managers 'block jobs' is also complete nonsense.

Quite agree with that. There's this notion that the labour market is fixed in size. A similar argument was used to argue against women entering the labour force a generation ago. It simply isn't the case.
