My career to date has been in the Public Sector working across 6 different Northern Ireland Civil Service (NICS) Departments undertaking a range of roles. In 1987 my career led me into the Careers Guidance field where I spent close to 16 years engaged in the provision of Careers Guidance to quite a wide range of clients, the majority of clients were young people who were embarking on GCSE’s, A levels or making University choices. Within the Careers field I had developed an expertise in dealing with disaffected young people and took great personal satisfaction in observing them attain their goals.
Following my Careers Guidance experience I embarked on a Training Consultancy role where I was heavily involved in the introduction of the National Vocational Qualification procedures to enable clients get accreditation and recognition for the skills and knowledge they had gained through the various roles performed. The consultancy role in training led me to take up employment as an internal Business Consultant again within the NICS. In this capacity my work involves structural reviews, grading and loading of posts, taking workshops on strategic development and performance measurement.

Other Details; when the world was a lot younger I was heavily engaged in youth work and as a result of my youth work endeavours I was invited to work with the United Nations for a period of 12 years travelling extensively in this period.
