Philip Whiteley is an experienced author and business adviser, with 15 years experience in the field of management, leadership and organisational development. He works in partnership with publishers, business coaches and management institutes to renew the business model away from an over-reliance on accountancy measures towards an evidence-based approach based on the recognition that organisations consist of people. Matters such as teamwork and employee engagement are not separate or issues, but fundamental to business performance.
The title New Normal, Radical Shift, co-authored with business adviser and entrepreneur Neela Bettridge, published by Gower Publishing in April 2013, chronicles how recent economic events, and the growing understanding of how human capital is the foundation of business and wealth creation, have profound effects for governance in the public and private sectors.
In 2012 he developed training materials for international teams, working with Susan Bloch, a leading executive coach, with whom he has co-written two books on international working. He has international experience, with a very good command of Spanish and working knowledge of French, and is well suited to helping individuals whose first language is not English. He has a Diploma Letter of Credit (Spanish) from the Institute of Linguistics.
He is a former columnist at The Times, where his weekly Packages feature on executive pay ran from 2000-2004, and has many years journalism experience. Other publications for which he has contributed include Personnel Today, Director, Coaching at Work, and Employee Benefits. He is an Associate at the sustainability consultancy Article 13, and a member of the Society of Authors.
