Draft standards for members of NHS boards and governing bodies in England
01 April 2012
In April, CMI responded to a consultation by the Council for Healthcare Regulatory Excellence (CHRE) on ethical standards for senior NHS leaders in England. This important consultation arose from a Government request that CHRE set ethical standards for executive and non-executive board-level managers in England, to fulfil the need for a stronger assurance system for all users of the NHS, particularly patients and their families.
In its submission, CMI supported the Council’s proposals, but called for the Standards to be extended to leaders and managers operating at all levels of the NHS, rather than just at Board level.
