Expectations for 2014 and beyond
27 March 2014
Looking ahead to 2014 and beyond, this year's future forecast finds that workers associating news of a more buoyant economy with long-awaited pay rises, team size increases and job moves could be disappointed in 2014.
While the tide seems to have turned, and the latest economic forecasts show that the economy is on the up after a lengthy recession, our survey evidence shows that most managers do not see budgets growing.
Managers are much more positive about how their organisation will fare in 2014 than they were this time in 2012, but the findings of the annual ‘Future Forecast’ research indicates this optimism won’t give rise to a wholesale increase in investment in the coming year. As in 2013, controlling costs continues to be the highest priority business challenge for the majority of managers when looking ahead to the new year.
