Almost 8m workers unhappy in the UK

Almost 8 million workers in the UK are unhappy in the role they currently occupy.

Research carried out by Train4TradeSkills into worker satisfaction found that 28 per cent of workers are unhappy in their role, but just 25 per cent are currently looking for career development opportunities elsewhere.

According to the findings, UK workers think a good salary is the key to happiness at work, cited by 64 per cent.

Around two-thirds of respondents said a sense of achievement in their work was important to them, while 46 per cent claimed flexible working made them happier at work.

Career satisfaction was found to be highest in the south-west of Britain and the West Midlands, while workers in the south-east and East Midlands were the least satisfied with their position.

A recent Reabur study found that 31 per of UK workers are disgruntled with their current role, with a number expecting to move to another organisation within the next five years.
