Leadership and management skills are crucial to create a healthy team, which will lead to an increase in efficiency and productivity, one expert has noted.
Kirsty McLatchie from The Plymouth Half Marathon Team explained that getting a team to run a half marathon together can bond colleagues together.
She noted that a daunting task, such as a run, will make employees more focused, feel a bit competitive and most importantly blow off a little bit of steam.
"Running together, in fact training of any kind, can be lots of fun too. It's also a great thing to talk to clients about or even get them involved with and extend client relationships in a positive, informal way," Ms McLatchie explained.
Research has indicated in the past that top performing firms succeed due to their teamwork, so encouraging a group spirit can only be a good thing.
Her comments come after Roger Harrop, a business expert and international motivational speaker, said that simple measures such as cycling to and from work or exercising at lunchtime can drive business productivity levels.
