Businesses urged to prepare for the World Cup

Businesses are being encouraged to prepare for the upcoming World Cup, as the first match of the tournament kicks off less than three weeks.

According to Business Link, companies should take steps to reduce the impact of the major sporting event by allowing flexible working where possible.

Business Link adviser John Grange told On Rec: "The World Cup will lead to a number of people wanting time off to enjoy the games. As a result, employers need to prepare for an increase in annual leave requests and the effect this will have on their business."

He added that it is important for businesses to communicate to staff what their plans for the World Cup are.

"Your flexibility and innovation will be welcomed by staff and will increase morale," he continued.

Earlier this week, research by Kellogg's found that 7.4 million workers in the UK are planning to watch every World Cup match this summer.
