Energy companies that are struggling to attract more young people into their industry will support a new, sector-wide qualification to help with career progression.
EON, EA Technology and CE Electric UK are all in talks with the National Skills Academy for Power to create a national qualification which allows workers to easily transfer between employers, reports the Telegraph.
Len Tweedie, of CE Electric UK, was quoted by the news provider as saying: "We want to establish a common set of standards so that skills can become transferable across employers. At the moment, [electricity] companies each have a different way of training staff.
"To move from one company to another, workers have to be reassessed at the next company they go to work for, which is costly and not adding any real value."
Recently, it was reported that over the next decade, the Scottish offshore wind sector is set to create 60 times more jobs.
Maximise your team's potential and make the most of your training budgets.
