Graduates 'expect flexible working conditions'
More than half (53 per cent) of graduates expect to have flexible working practices in place at their future job, a new survey has revealed.
Some 69 per cent of the 1,000 university leavers questioned said the option to work flexibly - either from a location of their choice or outside the traditional office hours - was important to them, according to the survey by Orange.
Learning experiences were the most important thing for graduates looking for a job, with 69 per cent ranking this highly, while 58 per cent said they wanted to be happy.
A good salary ranked slightly lower, with 51 per cent saying they expected this from their job.
Recently, a study by recruiter Hays found that 55 per cent of employers would welcome government legislation which would require them to offer flexible working practices to their staff.
At present, 46 per cent of employees say their employer does not encourage flexible working.
