Businesses in the hospitality sector could be eligible for a £1,000 government training bursary to develop the skills of their director or senior manager.
The management training bursary, available through the People 1st Train to Gain programme, will help businesses employing between five and 249 employees.
Up to £500 is fully funded with a further £500 available if matched by the company.
The management training can lead to a qualification, although this is not mandatory, and those taking part can benefit from in-depth skills analysis.
People 1st's sector compact manager Chris Jefferies has helped to secure funded training for small and medium-sized businesses including Patara Fine Thai Cuisine, a Thailand-based company that is growing the restaurant side of its business in the UK.
Mr Jefferies told Big Hospitality: "Employers have told us that they want to boost the management skills within their businesses, but for many small and medium-sized businesses, the recession made it difficult to invest in this area."
Earlier this month, the National Skills Academy for Hospitality surveyed more than 1,000 businesses in the sector and discovered the average performance was an impressive 74 out of 100.
Maximise your team's potential and make the most of your training budgets.

I'd have been eligible for this had it not been for me choosing to work with freelancers rather than employees.
We have just 3 staff and around 40 freelancers, but would tick all the other boxes. Ah well... :-)
