Smaller employers 'can experience tax return difficulties'

Smaller employers in the UK often end up experiencing issues with their tax returns, one commentator has highlighted, which may interest those focusing on their management development.

However, Keith Churchouse, director of Churchouse Financial Planning, also noted that HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) does appear to have realised that small businesses can face problems with these returns.

He stated: "If you are struggling with meeting payments or are having any problems, talk to your HMRC inspector and explain why, and they may be able to come up with a solution."

The country's present tax system might benefit from some degree of simplification in the future, Mr Churchouse went on to say, as it causes confusion among some people.

HMRC recently revealed that it is set to stage a number of workshops in parts of Northern Ireland in the weeks ahead, in a bid to help the likes of employers and sole traders with tax issues.
