STEM graduates 'will always be in demand'

Staff with skills in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) will always be in demand in the job market, according to the co-founder of the Graduate Recruitment Bureau.

Dan Hawes said that over the past few months, there has been increased demand for STEM graduates.

A new report from the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) has revealed that there is concern among employers that in the coming years they will not be able to fill all posts that require the right graduate level of skills.

Currently, almost half (45 per cent) of employers say that they are encountering difficulties in recruiting staff with STEM skills and some 51 per cent think there will be further problems in the future.

"There will be more graduates than ever this year," said Mr Hawes.

"As a long term strategy, recruiting graduates is an excellent idea if you are wanting your company to have high calibre managers that are going to lead managers into the future."
