Business Link to offer skills advice

Organisations seeking advice on management skills training and development for their staff can now turn to Business Link.

The government has combined the Train to Gain skills brokerage with its business advisory service in order to simply access for firms seeking information and support.

Part of its Solutions for Business scheme, the combination will make Business Link the first port of call for any advice sought by companies and will encourage them to offer training programmes to their staff.

Business minister Ian Pearson said: "To succeed in a competitive global environment UK businesses need ongoing access to help and support. That's why the government is committed to helping businesses in the areas they tell us matter - in access to finance and skills.

"The Train to Gain skills brokerage service will provide targeted, free and practical advice for businesses, helping them to better develop a highly skilled and innovative workforce - something which is even more crucial in the current economic climate."

Organisations interested in the new service can call Business Link on 0845 600 9006, from where they will be directed to a local broker who can offer specific advice.

Comments

Business Link has just started a massive campaign to drive business owners and managers to seek their resources online - and the materials and advice and contacts they make available are certainly worthwhile checking out.

I have found them to be quite helpful in the past and they have some great on-line information that can be really useful to companies. They also offer, at various locations at different times, help with training costs. One company I did some coaching work with had most of it paid for by their local business link group as part of developing the management skills.
