Economist Dan Ariely talks about the effectiveness of the bonus culture in motivating staff.
Do you agree? Can large bonuses harm motivation?

A bonus system can help in motivation however the bonus criteria needs to include items the individual can genuinely influence/control and lead to the right overall employee behaviours. It should also include elements linked to the longer term stability of the company and not just short term quick fixes.
