Diary of an Intern- Day 2
After an exciting and exhausting first day, meeting various people in the Marketing and Communications department where I am to be based for the next 6 weeks and getting to know who everyone is and what they get up to, I feel like I am beginning to settle in.
I have spent my time so far reading all about what the CMI's various departments do and what the company has to offer as well as looking at the Professional Manager magazine which is organised and run from the office here too. I have also been hearing all about the redesign of the website and the launch of the new marketing which will all be happening over the next few weeks whilst I'm here so I feel its going to be a pretty busy time, which is good for me as hopefully I will learn about how all the marketing and PR works which will be a brilliant insight im sure!
So thus far I have been introduced to how the Institute and the Press and PR works and have been given some jobs which I will be completing over the next few days. And of course I will be getting to grips with the blog as that too is pretty new to me, although has been really interesting to do some research into blogging and sites like LinkedIn and to find out just how important it is for discussing matters, particularly for those who want to project and form opinions through conversation and a direct media rather than being told by a newspaper.
So that is the first update, hopefully over the next few weeks I will have lots to share with you about what I am learning and you can comment on my blog and let me know what you think and give me any tips on how to improve my blog.

Sounds pretty good. I had an internship way back when and it was the usual tea and photo copying type of thing. Didn't really learn much. Sounds like you'll be doing quite a bit though, should be a great experience.
I agree with Andrea-this sounds like what an internship should include. Good luck.
These are nice days - the first few, I find.
Of course, there's still that feeling that you haven't quite seen what exactly you'll be doing, so there's still that little fear of the unknown. But at the same time you're also getting quite into the company and hopefully realising, ... this is cool!
So tell me, whats the atmosphere like in the CMI office? What are the people like?
Good question Si - can Agatha give us more insight into the key characters in the CMI London office???
Great blog Agatha - do you have a Twitter account - if so - you can follow me @CfPD - Adi will tell you more about how to do that if you don't have an account, I'll watch out for you. Also happy to connect on LinkedIn - just look at Adi's connections and you should find me.
It will be interesting to hear your thoughts on how these new media PR tools work?
Look forward to hearing more ...
Best wishes,
Margaret
Best of luck for your internship.
Tell us more about your days at CMI.
Hi Agatha - thank you for your blog and good luck with your internship. A suggestion for you - perhaps a 'learning point of the day or week feature'? I look forward to reading more.
Thank you for all the support and the suggestions, all much appreciated and yes I think a 'learning point of the day' is a brilliant idea, will include one in my next blog, to be posted this afternoon.
As for the atmosphere and the people, everyone has been really really friendly, helping me out when I get confused and I think I have now managed to meet everyone who works on this floor although I am not so hot on remembering all the names! The atmosphere is pretty relaxed which is nice because it means I don't feel bad asking someone for advice and it has helped me settle in more quickly,
so yes, all is going well, no problems thus far!
