Diary of an Intern- Day 6
So I begin my second week here at the CMI, and after a lovely weekend, (I think I have finally realised the true value of a weekend!) I am looking forward to seeing what the week ahead has in store for me!
I have been continuing with last weeks projects, and am now working on compiling a list of all member communications, this is quite a daunting task as I have to ring up various people and ask them for information, most of them are competely befuddled by my requests as they (quite fairly) have no idea who I am and why I need information until I have given a thorough explanaition!! But they are all friendly in the end, and I think hopefully I will be taking a trip up to Corby some time in the next couple of weeks to meet the team up there so hopefully then they (and I) can put a face to a name!!
I have also been doing some more reasearch into the value of internships and perceptions of what an intern should be doing or what an internship is, which is proving very interesting, and there is a possibility that I will be writing a guest article for managementsushi.com on the subject so I will let you all know what the progress is and of course my opinions on the articles and blogs I read as research.

Sounds good Agatha and I assume your research will cover the value of internships in a wide range of organisations and businesses. I'd be interested to see it.
I agree with Vince Agatha it would be really useful to see something on the business benefits of internships and also on how internships support the career development of interns

Interesting article Adi. Mind you I'd be surprised if 80% of companies use Linkedin as their primary recruiting tool. I recall that currently about 70% of jobs are not advertised so unless this paradigm changes 80% sounds high to me.
Here is the study the figure was from Vince. http://www.jobvite.com/Recruiting/Jobvite-2009-Social-Recruitment-Survey...
Thanks Adi. Very interesting.
Hi Agatha,
Sorry I haven't dropped by to comment earlier.
Good to see that despite all the modern ways of connecting you have listed the importance of being able to put a face to a name. Doing this in person is far more powerful than video conferencing, posting a photo etc.
