I can't see the video from this machine but I'd say one of the best ways of convincing the boss is by showing a practical demonstration of how it can help a business.
If you can't do that, then perhaps there isn't any merit in it.
Its rather hard to just give a practical demonstration - but I think using case studies of how other companies have successfully used social media, and their results.
