'Paid internship' proposed by Liberal Democrats
New proposals have been put forward by the Liberal Democrats which suggest a paid internship scheme for around 800,000 people.
The party also believes that youth unemployment could be tackled using the millions of pounds spent on VAT tax cuts.
However, Internocracy, a social enterprise which tries to give assistance to internships, has said that there needs to be a more comprehensive solution to the problem of unemployment and career development among young people.
Becky Heath, co-director of Internocracy, said that more awareness needs to be raised among young people about the benefits of internships.
She said that businesses coming out of the recession have an ageing workforce and young people who are fresh and can help take the business forward cannot get work.
According to a report by the Liberal Democrats called A Lifeboat For a Lost Generation Tackling the Challenge of Youth Unemployment, a new "90-day promise" should be introduced after three months unemployment, instead of ten months, to make places available in work, training or education, or an internship.

Good idea but can businesses fund it?
