UK leads on climate change training
The UK is expected to be at the centre of future of leadership development when it comes to climate change with the creation of a new low-carbon research centre.
A joint-venture between Hull, Leeds, Sheffield and York universities, the Centre for Low Carbon Futures will focus on new ways to tackle the problem of man-made global warming by developing change management and training skills.
York University vice-chancellor Brian Cantor said: "It will involve researchers of the highest calibre... and create a visionary training environment of international quality to meet the challenging energy and environmental questions facing society."
He added that the centre will provide business skills to whole firms and individuals to encourage the uptake of the latest innovations and promote real world change.
Meanwhile, a new renewable energy engineering centre is set to be created in Glasgow.
The Centre of Engineering Excellence for Renewable Energy will be a joint venture between the University of Strathclyde and Scottish Southern Energy.

I think this is good news but let's also lead in implementation.
Sadly so much of climate change mitigation is wound up in politics. For instance things like having a smart grid will be a great help to renewable technologies but getting one built remains a largely political issue.
