As a manager, you will find that your team will look to you for guidance, and your boss will look to you for results. It is well worth the time, therefore, to work out a strategy developing your relationships with those closest to you. You may find them to be a very welcoming group of people who will happily give you all the support you need to fit in. Alternatively, you may find that this in not the case and this will make the integration process more challenging.
Gaining support, acceptance and trust from your new colleagues will take time. However, by establishing solid working relationships from the outset, you will receive the support, help and information which will prove invaluable to you as you orientate yourself within your new position and validate yourself as a manager.
