Developing Young Managers – Our Future Talent

Having worked with many clients both in the UK and Europe it is clear that some organisations have a strong strategy for the development of young managers within their business.

Unfortunately this is not the case in all companies; often there is no clear idea of how an ambitious manager can have a greater insight into where they progress in the company.

This issue is relatively easy to address and starts with a well planned induction into the organisation, clearly setting out the structure and reporting lines.

The other issue with not managing this situation effectively is that young managers will often lose interest and leave the company; this has a direct effect on attrition rates and ultimately costs the company lost revenue and increased recruitment outlay.

Some good points Matthew.  With the retirement age being extended, how do you think companies will deal with the situation that arises when younger managers want to rise through the ranks but there are older managers blocking their way?
