How can healthcare professionals develop their skills in a recession?
We revealed the results of a survey by Bursin showing that investment in management training is set to reverse the trend of recent years by increasing spending.
Alas it would appear such initiatives aren't reaching as far as the health sector, where workers report a chronic under investment in skills and development.
Our research reveals that the opportunities for healthcare managers to access management training are woefully inadequate. Only 65 per cent say they are offered management training at all and less than half have the opportunity to attend management courses that are specific to the challenges posed by working within the healthcare profession (44 per cent). And this, despite leadership being one of the areas that healthcare professionals say they want to get to grips with. This research makes it plain that there is an urgent training need.
