Let the recruitment begin
According to the Recruitment and Employment Confederation in January of this year, "employers" intend to grow their permanent workforce. All sounds positive unless of course you work in the Public sector.
Indeed, the REC's monthly survey highlights around 21% of all respondents will (honestly) increase head count through out 2011. A further 74% claim that they will keep their head count static and only 5% suggests further reductions in numbers. While no detailed sector / specifics were mentioned, the overall picture does go some way to suggesting the recession recovery is continuing. The Banking sector was mentioned as one growing at the fastest rate since before the financial crisis and lead recruiters that were instructed to let contractors go, are now instructed to hire them bank.
Strangely in my opinion, it also mentions the skill shortage situation; with 55% of senior HR decision makers having real difficulty finding quality staff and 70% blaming a shortage in the talent pool. Where have they all gone in the last 24 months?
