Managing Creativity Checklist Updated
Can creativity be managed?
An organisation’s ability to innovate by developing and exploiting people’s creativity and generating new ideas is generally considered a key to competitive advantage, particularly in the context of rapid change in business and society. It is vital therefore, for organisations to foster and manage creativity and innovation on an ongoing basis if they are to achieve and sustain success in the marketplace.
Creativity has not always occupied a significant place in management theory and practice and it used to be the case that a lack of control was seen as a threat to organisational wellbeing. Now however, a lack of flexibility and over-control are perceived as dangers and the exercise of personal creativity is encouraged along with the careful management of creativity to unlock its optimum value.
This updated checklist focuses on organisational processes, steps and techniques for managing creativity in others, rather than on developing one’s own creativity.
